Some of us have danger coursing through our veins, but a thin wallet in our back pocket. Today we’ll look at three ways to feel the rush without dropping too many bucks!

Parkour is an incredibly cheap, yet impressive sport. It was conceptualized by a military man to give his body a rigorous workout. Parkour encourages self-expression through the movement of the body, be it balancing, running, or climbing on one’s way through an urban trail, often including rooftop jumping!

For a nature extremist, consider a trek off-trail through Denali National Park in Alaska. Choose to go in summertime, and with the less intense weather temperatures you can focus on adventuring through this wild, untamed land of grizzlies.

Perhaps you are the type who loves dangling from ropes at dizzying height. Rappelling may be just what you are looking for. Rappelling can be a cost-effective hobby, requiring simply a low-stretch rope, webbing, and a boulder or sturdy tree to cast off from.

If you are bent on a thrilling exploit on the edge of danger, the fact that you are operating on a budget does not have to keep you from pursuing the adrenaline rush you crave! Can’t get enough? There’s more: Destination: Alaska

If you get all those Travel and Discovery channels through www.direct2tv.com, then you’ve probably seen the special they did a while back on parkour. Developed as a form of military training through obstacle courses, parkour has taken on a new life as an extreme hobby used by people often affiliated with another dangerous pastime – urban exploration.

The object of parkour is to make it from Point A to Point B all while navigating difficult and treacherous terrain that might seem impassable to the unfit and untrained. Those involved in urban exploration employ parkour because of the access it can afford to intrepid explorers looking to get into dangerous and otherwise inaccessible structures.

If you are interested in this hobby, be warned – it’s not for everyone. In fact, parkour can result in severe bodily harm or even death. Many parkour practitioners spend years perfecting their technique and even then it’s not enough.

If you’re in the market for a real adrenaline rush, then few things can honestly match up to what parkour has to offer. Just beware of the dangers involved and, as far as parkour AND urban exploration go, make sure you take precautions. If you get hurt in one of those decaying structures, it could be hard for help to reach you.

For those of you unfamiliar with the world of geocaching, it is a unique type of treasure hunt. Using GPS coordinates, participants go in search of treasures referred to as caches. These can contain log books and items to trade. For some, they may be looking to take this one step further – enter the world of extreme geocaching.

By bumping up the difficulty both in skill and terrain type, geocaching reaches a whole new level. Extreme geocaches can contain elements such as mountain climbing, kayaking, hiking and underwater placed geocaches. The main purpose is to test your physical and mental abilities to locate these treasures.

The treasure seeker may find themselves descending into caves, climbing up trees, mountains or other types of difficult terrain. These types of challenges are not for the light-hearted. They definitely require a person to take extra precautions to ensure their safety.

This type of geocaching is best enjoyed with a group. Many of the challenges involve more than one location and can take several hours from start to finish. Some caches are designed to be multi-level meaning one location contains a puzzle that leads the person to the next level of the hunt and so on.

Speed skating is what happens when you get a bunch of people together that have decided regular foot races just aren’t exciting enough. So they put skates on their feet and try to go as fast as possible around a track at speeds that they’d never be able to manage just running. This is speed skating, and its sport in the fast lane.

Roller skates, the traditional kind with four wheels in a rough square, were the original skates of choice for speed skating races. However, time has moved on and inline skates are pretty much the skate of choice for most racers. Of course these inline skates are unique, with a tight grip and a small profile, typically made with leather and plastic to be a tight mold to the racer’s foot. It’s just meant to be a platform that provides minimal support and doesn’t weight down the racer with unnecessary bracing. It’s a bit like a stock car in that the goal is speed, and safety is left up to the racer’s skill on the track. With a slimmed down concern for crashes, though a helmet is most definitely necessary, this fast paced skate is like nothing else.

An extreme vacation is one that should be planned several months in advance. When getting ready to begin the planning process there are several things that should be taken into consideration. Below we will discuss what the most important points are.

Where Is the Destination
First off, you will need to decide what type of extreme vacation you want to take. Whether it is skiing, rock climbing, or sky diving, there are proper steps needed to be taken before the vacation. Also, depending on what time of the year it is can impact which vacations are available. For example, during the middle of the summer it may be hard to find locations that will offer skiing or snowboarding.

Who Will Participate In the Vacation
The amount of people going on the vacation can significantly reduce the price of the package. The expenses split between larger groups of people will result in each individual paying a lesser amount. Some vacation packages also offer deals for groups of a certain number.

Work or Family Arrangements
If you have small children or a full time job you must make arrangements prior to the vacation. Children usually do not have fun on extreme vacations; therefore it is best to leave them in the care of someone you trust. If you have work you will need to give sufficient notice of your absence.

If you are a fan of snorkeling, you will want to be sure that you know some of the best places to go to provide you with the best snorkeling you’ve ever experienced. For starters, you can visit the beautiful islands of the Caribbean. You will find that you can enjoy great snorkeling in places such as Grand Cayman, Cozumel, St. Marten, and Jamaica just to name a few. Each one offers beautiful aquatic life that will keep you mesmerized with their grace. You can also enjoy some great reefs in these locations.

Another great place for snorkeling is New Zealand; it too can give you quite an aquatic show with its colorful array of fish and sea life.

There are a few different ways to get scuba certified. The first way is to take a scuba diving course at a local pool close to where you live. Generally this will consist of a small group of people and a scuba instructor. He will teach you different techniques such as how to clear your mask, how to clear your ears, different hand signals to communicate under water, how to assemble and maintain your scuba gear, and of course the dangers of scuba diving.

Another way to get certified is by going on vacation to an area that offers a scuba diving course. An example of this would be the Caribbean islands. The certification would take probably close to a week so keep that in mind.

The third way to get certified is by taking scuba diving lessons at a resort. This option is a super fast way to get your scuba diving certification. Most resorts will make sure that you are certified in about 1-3 days, depending on the resort. However, it is important to understand that when you get certified this quickly, you will have very little training in emergency type scenarios. Things may jumble in your mind because it is a lot for your brain to remember. It is probably better to take a scuba diving course if at all possible.
